A word on guinea pigs...

We have gotten several comments about the guinea pigs...here they are like chicken, kept by many families in their homes and used for food. They are not your typical Petsmart guinea pig - they are apparently much bigger and fatter. Our guide, Rosa, told us that in her house growing up there'd be 80-100 at any given time in the kitchen. They would pick one out for dinner - usually on special occasions or holidays.

At least the place we had it, it didn't look like the whole animal - just like legs (like a chicken or turkey or whatever). There are times that they serve it as a whole roast and then it does look like a little rodent - just roasted and no fur.

It wasn't bad - taste mostly like dark meat duck or turkey. I don't think we'll be going shopping at Petsmart for dinner anytime soon though.
