Islands and Snorkeling

The day started with a buffet of Asian and Western options. Then, we boarded a boat to the island of Gaya, where we did a grueling hike through the forest and saw an agame lizard. By the end of the hour and a half hike in 90 degree heat with 100% humidity, we were all very hot and sweaty. A second boat delivered us to the island of Sapi, where we went snorkeling in bath temperature water. While snorkeling, the highlights included bright blue starfish, purple coral, clown fish (like Nemo) hiding in sea anemones, bright parrot fish, and spikey sea urchins. Lunch included freshly grilled seafood on the beach. After lunch, we went snorkeling again. Unfortunately, in the late afternoon, the skies began to darken - again. The boat ride back to the hotel was in pelting rain. Again, a nice warm shower felt fantastic. Tonight, dinner will be at the hotel again… and in the morning we are off to continue our adventure on Selligan Island (Turtle Island).
